Is OSB right for your needs?

OSB (Oriented Strand Board) is a structural panel made of wood strands oriented and bonded under high pressure. This cross-oriented fibre layout gives it high mechanical strength and excellent dimensional stability, making it a reference choice for load-bearing applications and demanding industrial uses.

Economical, robust, and high-performing, OSB is widely used in construction, industrial packaging, and any application where strength matters more than appearance.

Applications

  • Subflooring, walls, and roofing
  • Crates, pallets, and crating
  • Structural supports and assemblies
  • Industrial components and trailer floors

Benefits

  • Very high mechanical strength
  • High dimensional stability
  • Excellent strength-to-weight ratio
  • Good fastener holding (screws, nails)
  • Available in multiple grades, including moisture-resistant versions
  • Economical for structural applications

Frequently asked questions

OSB is made of oriented wood strands, while plywood is made of cross-laminated wood plies. Both offer excellent structural strength, but OSB is generally more economical and more uniform. Plywood may be preferred for certain visible applications or when exposed to moisture (depending on the grade). Our team can guide you toward the right choice for your project.
